Foo Fighters have discussed the controversy surrounding Kanye West's forthcoming headline slot at Glastonbury, saying "It could be the greatest show of all time... It could be a fucking disaster."
The band were scheduled to headline the festival the night before West, but Grohl broke his leg and they were forced to pull out - having since been replaced by Florence + The Machine.
Speaking to NME of the reasons for the hatred of Kanye West from a certain section of music fans, Grohl said, "It may have started with the Taylor Swift thing... and then it was the other thing, and then it was the other thing. But the cool thing about it is, when I was young my favourite [hip hop band] was Public Enemy, and all the punk rockers in Washington DC could really relate to Public Enemy because they were just like [sticks middle fingers up]."
He continued, "I don't know that much about Kanye's music but right now Kanye vs Glastonbury is about as close to that old-school [Public Enemy] vibe as you're going to get. I don't know who the dude is that started the petition but I think every one of those votes is only fuelling Kanye's fucking fire and it could be the greatest show of all time... It could be a fucking disaster."
The band's drummer Taylor Hawkins also discussed being neighbours with West, and how an incident with his mountain bike nearly put the rapper off moving into the area.
Glastonbury 2015 takes place at Worthy Farm from 24 - 28 June at Worthy Farm in Somerset, with Kanye West, Florence + The Machine, The Who, Paul Weller, Patti Smith, Pharrell Williams and loads more also set to perform.
