Prince's band, 3rdEyeGirl, have confirmed that there is a new Prince album entitled The Hit And Run Album is due by the end of 2015.
Speaking to 6Music, 3rd Eye Girl said of the Prince's 38th release: "It's phenomenal, there so many hits on this album. It's super experimental"
The Hit And Run Album is titled in reference to Prince's 'pop-up' concerts he was frequenting last year where the shows were announced on the day.
3rd Eye Girl consist of Donna Grantis, Ida Neilsen and Hannah Ford Welton. The album was written with Welton's husband, Joshua Welton, who helped produce Prince's Art Official Age in 2014.
In an exclusive interview with 6 Music's Matt Everitt, the band confirmed that the new song 'Hardrocklover' was the record's first single. Listen to the track below.
In terms of the overall feel of the record, the band reiterated: "It's just hit after hit and definitely caters to those fans who just love to hear what Prince has to say, rather than wanting to always hear that classic Purple Rain Prince sound".
The band said they heard the record when Joshua Welton was DJing an afterparty for Prince's White House show: "We were all just dancing and Joshua was Djing and he just started playing all these super funky songs and one of those was 'Hardrocklover'"
Guitarist Grantis continued: "It was all new music and everybody was having a good time, digging it. Little did we know that we were just jamming to a completely new album that was just finished that Joshua and Prince had done."

There is no official release date for The Hit and Run Album as of yet but it's a surprisingly quick turnover considering Prince released two albums, Art Official Age and Plectrumelectrum, last September.
3rd Eye Girl would get a chance to hear the record "hopefully soon", but details of the release aren't yet set in stone.
In the meantime, have a watch of the video for Prince's peaceful protest track, 'Baltimore'.
