The nominees for this year's MTV EMAs have been announced, with Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber leading the nominations, while the likes of Muse, Years & Years, Royal Blood and Florence + The Machine have also been recognised.

Taylor Swift has been nominated in a record-breaking nine categories for this year's EMAs (European Music Awards), including Best Pop, Best Female and Best Live Act. Meanwhile Justin Bieber, described in a press release as the "man of the moment," is up for six awards, boosted by the success of his recent single 'What Do You Mean?'

In the Best Rock category, AC/DC, Coldplay, Foo Fighters and Royal Blood will go up against Muse, with the winner being decided, as is the case in every category, by public vote.

Other notable nominees include Years & Years, James Bay and Shamir, all of whom are in the Best Push category, and a second nod for Foo Fighters in the Best Live Act category.

Social voting in the Biggest Fans category also opened today - with fans being invited to use the hashtag #EMABiggestFans along with their favourite artists' names.
