Blur and Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn, has claimed that his comments about Adele were taken out of context - saying that the accusations are 'pathetic' and 'not even true'.
In an interview with Time Out, Albarn explains that his words were manipulated to form a story.
"I was Number Five on Twitter… I mean, how pathetic is that?" says Albarn - even seeming shocked at the brazen misconstruction of his comments, "It's not even true: it's amazing how people will run with stuff that has no credence whatsoever and turn it into something and then watch the reaction."
He also described the online backlash he received after his comments were used against him, "People were not kind, it was... enlightening… I'm used to it. Listen, I'm here because I love writing music and it's a privilege".
Adele’s new album, 25 has been projected to ship 3.8 million copies, after selling 300,000 copies in the first 24 hours.
