Adele might already be a very successful artist, but her net worth would be through the roof if she hadn't turned down most of the offers that have come her way. ("What have I said no to? Everything you can imagine. Books, clothes, food ranges, drink ranges, fitness ranges.") Following the release of her new album, 25, though, it looks like Glastonbury might be edging ever closer to saying "Hello" to the singer. As the follow-up to 21 breaks records left, right and centre, Glastonbury booker Martin Elbourne claims that Adele is "in the mix" to headline Glastonbury.
Elbourne's optimism seems a little far-fetched, giving how many times Adele has categorically denied that she'd ever play the festival. Just a few weeks ago, she told London's Capital Breakfast Show, "I think I've made myself pretty clear on Glastonbury. The crowds are just too big - I don't know if I could do it."
Now though, Martin Elbourne has told Loaded, "There's lots of talk about Adele and it's in there in the mix. Adele is in a situation in her career where frankly she can do whatever the hell she likes. Hopefully it will happen and it still needs to be confirmed."
He continued, "She’s not into festivals but obviously, every promoter in the world wants to get her so fingers crossed, we are hoping it’s going to happen."
A slightly less bold, but equally exciting, claim by Elbourne is that Grimes will be performing, "we just have to figure out where." The musician released her new album, Art Angels, last month.
Meanwhile, Emily Eavis recently revealed that the festival's line-up is "80% of the way there already," and that the headliners are all in place. So it they do persuade Adele, it looks like it'll have to be 2017.
