Doncaster fans looked expectantly at lemon yellow posters, awaiting news of a Stone Roses album tour. It has recently transpired that these pages were fools gold - and it was, in fact, a marketing strategy by cover band The Clone Roses. The move was a parody, or second coming of the lemon posters splashed across Manchester streets earlier this month.
Fans responded with optimistic messages of hope.

The Stone Roses, who famously haven't released a new album for over a decade, have fortunately satisfied fans with a flurry of 2016 tour dates and will be playing Manchester's Etihad Stadium in June.

The Clone Roses, who play in Doncaster on 29 January, also have tour dates in the largest Northern cities: Manchester, Nottingham and Liverpool. Not all of The Stone Roses fans were totally convinced by the circulating rumours, but we can be sure to expect more people falling for The Clone Roses' advertising before summer 2016.
