Adele has only gone and smashed another record. With still a day to go until this week's charts are revealed, the singer's brand new album, 25, has broken the record for the UK's fastest-selling record of all time which Oasis previously held until a few hours ago.
As of this Tuesday (24 November), 25's sales totalled a whopping 538,000. To put this in context, it's 238,000 units more than is required to be considered for a platinum certification reports from the Official Charts Company inform us. Adele had to push another 160,000 records if she has any chance of trumping Oasis' Be Here Now which was released back in 1997. Today Adele has broken that record with a strong 737,000 sales.
The system works on a Friday morning through till Thursday evening system. The chart takes an aggregate of all record sales physically and digitally as well as streams. The results will be will revealed late Friday afternoon. Billboard reports that her US figures are as impressive, shifting a monster 2.4 million records since it was released last week.

As remarkable as her numbers look, the hype surrounding Adele's promotional campaign and whipped up a seriously viral storm. Just a couple of examples, but you can now watch one man perform 'Hello' in 25 different vocal styles, The Muppets perform 'Hello' and Jimmy Fallon and Adele perform the track on kids instruments with The Roots.
