Former Voice contestant Christina Grimmie has been shot dead in an gun attack outside gig, where the assailiant also shot and killed himself.
Grimmie was signing autographs for fans after a concert in Orlando when the gunman opened fire. Her brother tackled him, before the attacker shot and killed himself - being pronounced dead at the scene. Christina, 22, later died of her injuries in hospital.
"It is with a heavy heart that we can confirm that Christina has passed and went home to be with the Lord," said Grimmie's publicist, Heather Walsh.
The attack took place around 10.45pm local time last night (Friday 10 June), at The Plaza Live in Orlando.
Police hailed Grimmie's brother as 'a hero' for tackling the attacker and preventing others from being hurt. .
The singer finished third during the third season of The Voice in the US in 2014. She released her debut album With Love in 2013, and other recent singles include 'Must Be Love', 'Cliche' and 'Shrug'.
