Despite reports that Coldplay's latest album, A Head Full of Dreams, would not be appearing on Spotify for some time, Music Business Worldwide has confirmed that the band's seventh release will be available on the popular music streaming service by the end of the week.
Chris Martin and company's new album was released after lead single 'Everglow' on Friday 4 December and appeared on Apple Music, Amazon Prime Music and TIDAL that same day. But it notably absent from Spotify, leading some commentators to report that it would never appear on the music streaming service.
The unexpected news of an imminent release on Spotify is in direct contrast to the band's previous LPs, Ghost Stories (2014) and Mylo Xyloto (2011), which both took months to appear on the streaming service.
Not only that, but the band responsible for earworms such as 'Yellow', 'Fix You' and 'Viva la Vida' will be unveiling "something special" in collaboration with Spotify in the new year.
This news comes on the back of Spotify's global push to add numbers to its 75m active users and 20m paying subscribers.
