Adele is being accused of 'stealing' from the late Kurdish-Turkish singer Ahmet Kaya.

The potential plagiarism suit follows the release of '25', the fastest selling album of all time, which has sold over 10 million copies in 10 days. Fans of Kaya's work have furiously commented on Turkish social media sites, making comparisons of her new song 'Million Years Ago' and Ahmet Kaya's 'Acilara Tutunmak (Clinging to Pain).

"Adele has stolen from us," Esra Nur Aydogan wrote on Twitter.

Kaya, who was a prominent artist from Maltaya, Turkey, who released several songs in Kurdish and Turkish, died in November 2000 in Paris. Others on social media took to post photos comparing poses of the artists.

One YouTube user commented on the songs being similar, but not enough to warrant a plagiarism suit. "Similar chords, similar tempo but both completely different songs! There are thousands of songs that resolve in plagiarism and this is not one."

Another YouTube user also commented on the similarities. "Both are generic as f*ck, there are literally hundreds other songs that sound just like that."

Listen to the two songs below.

This case follows the recent plagiarism suit thrown at music producer and rapper Jay-Z, sent by family members of the late Egyptian singer Abdel Halim Hafez over the similarities between the 1957 song Khoshara (What a Shame), and the 1999 hit song 'Big Pimpin'. Jay-Z was cleared last month by US district judge Christina Snyder, who ruled that the rapper was not liable for an "uncleared sample".

Speaking about the accusations made to the Turkish daily newspaper Posta, Kaya's widow, Gulten Kaya, disagreed with the comparisons and said that it was highly unlikely that Adele would steal from her husband. "However, if she consciously did it, then it would be theft," she said.

Adele's spokesperson has yet to comment on the current situation.
