Music licensing company PPL has released an official chart of the most played David Bowie tracks of the 21st Century to commemorate the legendary music icon, who died a few days ago.
The chart aggregates PPL’s exclusive UK airplay data of Bowie tracks that have been played in public and broadcast on TV and radio since 2000.
‘Let’s Dance’ tops the chart, whilst his hit duet with Queen, ‘Under Pressure’ comes in second. ‘Starman’, the inaugural story of Bowie’s alter-ego, Ziggy Stardust, takes third place.
The chart spans three decades of records, with the earliest, ‘Space Oddity’, reaching the No.6 spot. The eponymous space track from Bowie’s second album was released in 1969, whilst ‘Absolute Beginners’, that takes 19th place was released in 1986.
In the UK David Bowie received over 360 million seconds of TV and radio airplay throughout the 21st Century.
