Mogwai have unveiled a new track called ‘U-235’, taken from Atomic, their upcoming soundtrack album.

Atomic is a collection of reworked versions of the music recorded for the soundtrack to Mark Cousins’ documentary, Atomic: Living In Dead and Promise, which aired on BBC Four last summer.

Mogwai’s Stuart Braithwate said, “The Atomic soundtrack is one of the most intense and fulfilling projects we've taken on as a band.”

He continued, “Ever since we went to Hiroshima to play and visited the peace park this has been a subject very close to us. The end results, both the film score and the record are pieces I'm extremely proud of."

The ten-track album will be released on 1 April via Rock Action. New live dates are expected to be announced shortly.

John Cummings, Mogwai’s guitarist, left the band in November 2015, to “pursue his own musical projects”.
