Kanye West has somewhat moderated his assertion that his forthcoming album is "the best album of all time," admitting that it might not be better than work from the likes of Stevie Wonder and Jimi Hendrix.
Shortly before he got into a blazing Twitter row with Wiz Khalifa, the rapper tweeted an update on his highly anticipated new album, newly renamed Waves. "So happy to be finished with the best album of all time," he wrote on Twitter. "This is not album of the year. This is album of the life."
He then distracted himself from the best album of all time by lashing out at Wiz Khalifa for mocking the new album title. Things escalated unnecessarily after Kanye mistook Wiz's use of "KK" (a moniker for weed) for a reference to his wife Kim Kardashian.
He's since returned to the topic at hand though, and had another think about his lofty statement: "Out of respect for Q-Tip, Puff, Hov, Lauren, Pharcyde, Mary, Stevie, Michael, Hendrix, James, Pete Rock, Pac, Marvin….this new album is ONE of the greatest albums not the greatest just one of …"
He concluded, "So many musicians touch my life and made me who I am… I want to make something great to honor my idols…"
As for that Wiz incident (during which Kanye completely unjustifiably dragged in ex girlfriend Amber Rose and her son), the two are back on good terms. "Me and Wiz spoke yesterday," he tweeted. "Great convo. All positive."
