A poignant video for Jeff Buckley's cover of The Smiths classic 'I Know It's Over' has just surfaced online. Watch it below.
The video directed by Amanda Demme tells the story of a mother and her young worried son who can't sleep in his own bed. The video makes reference to Buckley, as the son is shown strumming his guitar in his bedroom whilst watching grainy footage of Buckley.
Amy Redford was executive producer and tells Rolling Stone: "When I first heard Jeff, he gave me permission to feel fully and with contradiction [...] He inspired me to fight for authenticity, and to feel confidence in simplicity. To collaborate on these songs coming to life, and to see the community of people who Jeff touched, has been a privilege."
Buckley's cover of 'I Know It's Over', which highlights how strong of an influence The Smiths were on him, is set to be released on an album named You And I that's set for release next month. The ten tracks on it are recorded early in his career and feature mostly covers and a couple of originals including an early version of his very loved hit track 'Grace'.
