Kesha has spoken out for the first time since a judge ruled that she muststay on the label owned by Dr. Luke, the man she says raped her.
Kesha filed a lawsuit against Dr. Luke back in 2014, claiming that he had sexually and emotionally abused her over the course of a decade. On one occasion, she says, Dr. Luke forced her to snort something before getting on a plane, "and during the trip he forced himself on her while she was drugged."
In her suit, the singer asked to be allowed to record with a label not owned by her alleged abuser. On Friday (19 February), a judge ruled that she could not be released from her contract, and is still obliged to record four more albums under Dr. Luke's label.
After the ruling, Dr. Luke took to Twitter to deny the allegations publicly, saying, "I have 3 sisters, a daughter and a son with my girlfriend,".
Now, in an Instagram post, Kesha has broken her silence following the ruling. "I am beyond words in gratitude," she said. "Thank you is not enough but it is all I have. a million times over and forever thank you. the support I have received has left my face swollen from tears. I love you all so much. ❤️ a statement too large for this format is coming...."
Since the ruling on Friday (19 February), musicians such as Lorde, Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Kelly Clarkson and Miley Cyrus have come out in support of Kesha, while Taylor Swift has donated $250,000 to help with legal bills.
