Red Hot Chili Peppers have announced details of their new album, and revealed its first single, ‘Dark Necessities’. Listen below.
The band’s 11th album, The Getaway, was produced by Danger Mouse, and is set to be released next month. It comes five years after their previous album, 2011’s I’m With You.
It’s not long before that trademark funk-laced slap bass works its way into ‘Dark Necessities’ - although there’s a small piano respite about two thirds of the way in.

Hell freezes over: I might actually buy my first Red Hot Chili Peppers album this year, and not just because there's a raccoon on the cover.
