After Rihanna pulled out due to concerns about Zika virus, Lollapalooza Colombia has been cancelled.
The festival was set to host the likes of Lana Del Rey, Disclosure, Cage The Elephant and Anderson .Paak in September for its inaugural Colombian edition. Unfortunately, because Zika virus - which was declared a global public health emergency by the WHO in May- is present in Colombia, Rihanna decided to withdraw herself from the billing.
In a subsequent statement, as Consequence Of Sound reports, the festival organisers said they didn’t have enough time to organise a replacement, and have been forced to cancel the festival altogether.
Translated from Spanish, the statement reads, “The organisers wish to express their profound gratitude to all the fans who supported the festival since day one, as well as the sponsors and media partners. We hope to return in the future to realise this first edition of Lollapalooza in the country.”
