The wait is finally over. Green Day have announced that they'll be playing three massive arena shows in the UK in Feburary 2017.
The shows come as the release of their hugely anticipated new album Revolution Radio nears its 7 October release.
The band last touched these shores in 2013 when they headlined Reading/Leeds festivals and consolidated their reputation as one of the best live bands in the world.
The new album material looks set to push their show to new energetic highs. According to their press release it's a: "potent 12-track blitz of angst-ridden anthems" and has been described as "raw, visceral, and fearless – solidifying the band's reign as one of the leading voices in rock music."
Speaking of the albums political leanings Billie Joe Armstrong comments on it: "Of course the world has lost its collective mind… and me, Mike and Tré are lost souls too...Revolution Radio is a movement for lost souls to come together, dance together, sing together, and most of all, find each other. That's what the spirit of Green Day has been about since day one." It seems they have more to say than ever.
In addition to Donald Trump's presence, no doubt that part of the band's conclusion that the world has lost its mind is down to the UK's recent catastrophe politically. He'll be well aware he's coming to a country that's gone through a Brexit vote and handed the likes of Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage more power.
Since breaking through in 1994 with the ‘Dookie’ album, Green Day – completed by Mike Dirnt (bass) and Tré Cool (drums) – have become one of the world’s biggest bands with over 75 million worldwide sales Green Day will play the below.
