It had perhaps been decades coming and many of us thought that it would never happen, but veteran 80s rockers Motley Crue did indeed hang up their spandex and denim after a hugely successful final tour.
The band announced their final tour in early 2014 and even stated that unlike other bands they had signed a ‘cessation of touring agreement’ meaning they may reunite for a one-of show, but they cannot reform as Crue.
The tour saw Vince Neil, Mick Mars, Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee all get back together for a two-year global adventure. Taking in over five continents, 160-plus shows and a band gross of somewhere in the region $100 million. This was the tour to see in 2014/15 and ended on a huge high.
That high being a recorded concert at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles held on December 31st 2015.
This was shown in the United States over the Summer, but now in October 2016 selected cinemas across the Europe, South America, Australia and Japan will get to see this event in all of its glory. There will also be some exclusive behind the scenes footage thrown in for good measure.
Known for so many iconic hits the Motley guys never really had to do much more than perform their material, but they have also over the decades become a band who always push the live show envelope and go above and beyond the call of duty to put on one awe-inspiring gig.
So from pyrotechnics and Tommy’s trademark drum roller coaster to Vince’s own daredevil antics this is a show not to miss.
This may be an end of an era for one of rocks legends, but their legacy will now live on not only CD, via the cinema and surely DVD too.
