The xx are broadcasting a special performance via Facebook Live today (January 12) ahead of their new record I See You arriving this Friday.
London trio The xx are making great use of Facebook's live streaming service, drumming up hype for their upcoming third album. The band began to stream this afternoon, exciting and confusing fans simultaneously as they looped images of them setting-up in London's RAK Studios.
After nothing but mumbles and background chatter, the band appeared and played lead single 'On Hold' to those tuned-in, and will continue to broadcast until I See You drops at midnight.
"We're back at RAK Studios in London today rehearsing for our tour." than band posted. "To celebrate our new album ‘I See You’ coming out at midnight, we wanted to play some of our new songs for you all. We'll be going live on all of our social channels throughout the day, so stay tuned!
'On Hold' was unveiled back in November, with Gigwise describing the comeback track as "a brilliant collage of atmospheric ambient soundscapes, and sweet R&B tinged vocals" and "much more confident and upbeat" in comparison to 2012's Coexist.
A second slice of 'On Hold' has also been released, in the form of 'Say Something Loving'.
Today's special broadcast sees the band in rehearsal for their huge European tour, which starts next month. As part of the string of dates, The xx have sold out a mammoth eight nights at London's Brixton Academy.
