Albert Hammond Jr. has turned his hand to acting, and will feature in the upcoming film Newness.
The Strokes guitarist has a small part in the film which will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, sharing the screen with the likes of Nicholas Hoult, Laia Costa, Danny Hudson and Courtney Eaton.
Hammond Jr shared the news on his Facebook page, saying: "My name in lights. So excited to see this movie at Sundance. I had a little role but it was a lifetime experience with amazing people. Too much!"
Newness, which is set in Los Angeles, follows two millenials within a social media hookup culture who begin a challenging relationship. The film is directed by Drake Doremus.
The Sundance film festival takes place at Park City, Utah and runs January 19-29.
Meanwhile, Nick Valensi shared promising news with fans at the end of last year in regards to The Strokes coming together again for a new record in 2017. Speaking to NME, the guitarist said: "The Strokes are alive and well and living in New York City. We are working on music and we want to put out music hopefully next year".
The Strokes have been busy working on individual projects since the release of their fifth album Comedown Machine in 2013. Nick Valensi founded the band CRX, Julian Casablancas and Albert Hammond Jr. both released solo records, while bassist Nikolai Fraiture played with the band Summer Moon last year.
