Kasabian are set to play Sziget festival, held 9-16 August on an idyllic island in the middle of the Danube in central Budapest.
The festival, which won Artists' Favourite European Festival at the 2017 European Festival awards, is one of the highlights on the world festival circuit by some measure. The addition of the Leicester band is sure to heighten interest in the event from Kasabian fans wanting to hear material from their forthcoming album - the follow up to 2014's 48:13 - in one of the best cities and festival locations in the world.
Despite the island being in the middle of the city it has a truly laid back island life feel to it. The sizzling August temperatures are perfect for sunbathing, swimming and boat parties in addition to spending plenty of time in the outdoors watching bands.
Kasabian join a host of other huge artists for the event, including: Interpol, DJ Shadow, Mac DeMarco, Major Lazer, Bad Religion, The Kills, and Tom Odell.
Elsewhere, in an interview with NME Serge Pizzorno said the new album a journey back "to thier guitar roots" and that it's "nothing like 48:13." He also said: "I wrote one of the best tunes I’ve ever written.”
He continued: “[It’s called] ‘Bless This Acid House’. It’s a beauty. It’s a mad time, with what’s been happening – it felt like the world was caving in around me. But I felt that everyone had said enough, like everyone had had their say, so this tune is just pure positive energy. I went round my mate’s house and he’s got this [Jeremy Deller-designed] poster and I thought, ‘I love that’, so I wrote a tune about it, but now I’m finished.”
