Grimes has released a snippet of a new video for a track called ‘Venus Fly’, set to be premiered in full later today (February 2), in which she and guest Janelle Monae wield flaming swords in a variety of futuristic warrior outfits.
The clip, directed by Grimes, is the latest in a series of videos for tracks from her highly acclaimed 2015 album ‘Art Angels’. In a post accompanying the clip, Grimes described it as her “strongest work” and hoped it would cutneract the “extreme political climate”.
She wrote: “sometimes it feels futile to be making art in this cruel and extreme political climate, but some of the brightest moments of the last few months for me and for a lot of you, i suspect, have come from seeing @janellemonae’s amazing and positive vision of the future, especially when we are being introduced to so many possible dystopian futures.”
The video, to be released in full on TIDAL at noon EST today, follows the release of promos for four of the tracks from ‘Art Angel’ last October as part of Grimes’ collaboration with Hana Pestle called ‘The AC!D Reign Chronicles’.
