Musicians speaking out against Donald Trump are run of the mill these days; it is perhaps more surprising that the most outspoken in the business has barely done so. However Kanye West’s support for the president looks to be waning after all mentions of Trump disappeared from the rapper’s Twitter account.

In an astonishing mid-set diatribe in November, West – who abstained from voting in the presidential election – said he would have voted for Trump as he admired his debating style and thought he would expose racism in America. However TMZ now reports that West is unhappy with the president’s first two weeks in office, in which he implemented a racist travel ban against people born in countries with large Muslim populations.

In December, West stoked further outrage among just about every idiot on Twitter by paying a visit to the then president elect’s Trump Towers headquarters. The musician said at the time that this was to discuss “bullying, supporting teachers, modernising curriculums and violence in Chicago” and also tweeted: “I feel it is important to have a direct line of communication with our future president if we truly want change”. We are sadly unable to give you a link to these quotes, for reasons that should be obvious by now.

In January, West’s wife, Kim Kardashian West, showed her support for the worldwide women’s march that was organised as a protest in response to Trump’s attitude towards women. She wrote: “So proud of the women & men who stood up for what is right & are determined to make this world a better place for our children”.
