Great news, Prince fans: The Purple One's back catalogue is finally due to drop on streaming platforms this weekend. Time to party like it's 1999.
Spotify and other streaming services have been in discussion with the Prince Estate and the Warner Bros label for some time - though it now appears that the record label's chunk of Prince's discography will become readily available online.
Warner Bros' catalogue of Prince material includes the albums 1999, Purple Rain, Dirty Mind and Sign O' The Times.
The albums' move to streaming sites was teased by Spotify in a marketing ploy between the company and Warner Bros. Crypic purple advertisements featuring the Spotify logo began to appear around New York City.
Prince was well known for his dislike of music streaming, and in 2015 he removed all his music from streaming services, making it almost impossible to find his music online.
In one of his many wars against the music industry, Prince's split with Warner Bros resulted in him accusing the label of treating him like a slave.
