The 1975 have recorded a haunting auto-tuned cover of Sade’s 2000 song ‘By Your Side’ in aid of the War Child charity.

The track was premiered on Mista Jam’s Radio 1 show last night (February 21) shortly before the band took the stage at the Tufnell Park Dome for their show as part of the Brits Week series of gigs, in which major acts perform in relatively tiny venues to raise money for the charity.

The song is available to stream and buy now. Listen to a preview sample below.

The 1975 played a 16-song set at the Tufnell Park Dome including hit singles ‘Sex’, ‘Chocolate’ and ‘Love Me’ and singer Mattie Healy suggested from the stage that the band “might play Hammersmith Apollo in the summer.”

The band are also due to perform at the Brit Awards tonight (February 22), where they are nominated for the Best British Album and British Group awards. The band picked up the Best Live Band award at last week’s NME Awards.
