Beach Boy Brian Wilson and synth-pop super-man Gary Numan will play in Liverpool this July, as part of the city's 50 Summers of Love season.
The special shows are set to take place at Liverpool's Exhibition Centre, and will be the last chance to see Brian Wilson's pop/rock masterpiece of Pet Sounds performed live. The event is the last ever UK date of the legendary show, which is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Pet Sounds album. Going out in style, Wilson will perform a rare cuts and greatest hits finale - a special parting gift indeed.

Gary Numan will play a career-spanning set, drawing from an impressive 40-year career and 21 studio albums. There's also a promise of new material, as the 'Are Friends Electric?' star has just signed a new record contract with BMG. This special show is only one of two UK dates this year, with another performance scheduled for Standon Calling Festival.

Support will come in the form of Ultravox frontman and avant-garde electronic artist John Foxx, with his current project John Foxx and The Maths, who will play before Numan. Opening up for Brian Wilson will be Beach Boys co-founder Al Jardine, and The Flames and Beach Boys guitarist Blondie Chaplin.
Speaking about the previously-announced Pet Sounds shows, Brian Wilson said: “I’m really happy to be able to come back to the UK and perform Pet Sounds yet again for all our fans. The response from everyone has been amazing and that’s why we decided to come back and play Pet Sounds for one last time.”
“We want to thank the fans in the UK for all their support, and look forward to playing these shows this Summer. Love and Mercy, Brian.”
The Beach Boys' Pet Sounds record was released in May 1966 and features the hit 'God Only Knows'.
