London Grammar have confirmed that they will be playing at Glastonbury 2017.
Speaking to Jo Wiley on her Radio 2 programme last night (February 21), the Nottingham band, who released their new single ‘Rooting For You’ on January 1 this year, announced that they would be appearing at the festival alongside the handful of other confirmed acts Radiohead, Wiley and The Avalanches.
Meanwhile, an announcement from Foo Fighters, which was teased for 6pm last night on promotional airline boarding passes sent to fans from the fictional Obelisk Airlines, failed to happen. The announcement was expected to confirm the band as Pyramid Stage headliners for 2017. However, Michael and Emily Eavis have said that there wouldn’t be another headliner announcement until March. Ed Sheeran is also strongly tipped to be headlining the festival.
London Grammar’s appearance will be their first at Glastonbury since headlining the John Peel Stage in 2013, around their debut album ‘If You Wait’. Their long-awaited second album is expected to appear this summer, following the release of ‘Rooting For You’ in January and their sharing second single ‘Big Picture’ on the Facebook page on February 1.
