At The Drive In have announced details of a brand new album while also releasing the LP’s second new track. Titled in•ter a•li•a., the album is the US post-harcore’s band’s first album in - count ‘em! - 17 years and is the somewhat belated following follow-up to 2000’s Relationship Of Command.
Wow. 17 years. That gap between albums is now old enough to learn to drive. If it had waited another year it could’ve gone to the pub.
Anyway, the long-awaited album is out on May 5 on Rise Records and is available for pre-order at the band’s website.
Elsewhere, ‘Incurably Innocent’ - the second track from the album - has been released and you can check it out here
It follows on from the previously released ‘Governed By Contagions’, which was released in December and also features on the album.
‘Incurably Innocent’ is described by vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala as, "a song about sexual abuse and being able to finally speak out.”
As for the album, in·ter a·li·a (that’s Latin for “among other things” dontcha know) was produced by At The Drive In guitarist Omar Rodriguez-Lopez alongside Rich Costey (Muse, Biffy Clyro, Frank Turner), and recorded at Hollywood’s Sound Factory, where Ringo Starr, Brian Wilson and the Red Hot Chili Peppers have all recorded.
in • ter a • li • a’s release will be immediately followed by a new series of live dates beginning in New Orleans on March 17 before heading to Europe and then to the UK to play Reading and Leeds Festival in August.
