Mercury on a shard of glass

More about:

Just Mustard have previewed their new, keenly-awaited album Heart Under with a further single from the Partisan release. 'Mirrors' is track eight from the forthcoming album, and the project's third single.

Sinuous and fluid, 'Mirrors' is mercury running down a shard of cold glass: the cool flipside to the flushed industralism of 'Still'.

Co-vocalist David Noonan said of the cut: “‘Mirrors’ was one of the final songs to be written for Heart Under, the lyrics and music arrived together in what felt like one moment and we wanted to keep the feeling of one thought or moment constant throughout the song”.

Just Mustard first came to our attention back in 2019 when they played a show at The Great Escape that blew us away: "Cinematic at every turn and so meaningful as to make even the leak in the pub's ceiling seem choreographed," we said at the time.

In our winter 2021 issue of Gigwise Magazine, we met Just Mustard to discuss their past and future. Katie told us then: “We wanted to go into the studio, record and come out with a finished album, but it was hard because you didn’t know if it was going to get locked down or anything. So if you got a studio you were like, ‘right let’s get in quick and get it done’. I ended up re-recording all of the vocals at home at my little home studio I had growing up. It felt a lot more comfortable doing that.”
