King Tuff has a new album coming out towards the end of this month and in anticipation of that, he’s released a brand-new single called ‘Tell Me.’ Before we dive into a long description about the track and potentially overcomplicate it, it’s fair to say that the whole thing, when played it’s in entirety, can be described in one way and one way only: bloody lovely.

Music is the best form of expression there is. With all of the different components there are to a song, there are a number of ways that people who make music are able to talk about how they’re feeling. This could be through what they’re saying, the music that accompanies their words, harmonies, or a combination of all of them. This means music opens itself up to over-complication, which is good in a sense because it means that there are musicians out there constantly striving for new sounds, ideas and means by which they can communicate feeling, but sometimes, the simplest forms of communication remain the most effective.

“Almost every song in the world is about love, yet somehow there’s still not enough love songs,” says King Tuff about this single, “and if you took all the love songs in the world and added them to all the love songs that haven’t been written yet, well, there still wouldn’t be enough. There’s always room for more love and there’s always room for more love songs.”

King Tuff’s affiliation towards love and respect for the love song is perfectly reflected in this track. It’s worth saying, if you’re looking for something which is layered and varied throughout, you won’t find it here. If you’re looking for something that highlights the effectiveness of simplicity, that shows how well good melody and good vocals can convey feeling, you’re in the right place.

King Tuff sings on this song with SASAMI providing harmony. The two sing the same lines at the same time, as if in sync in their emotion, which paints the most honest and raw portrayal of mutual love possible. “Most of my songs are love songs,” he confesses, “and I like it that way. But I’m still not satisfied! I want more! I want more love!”
