Ava Vegas clearly has a solid understanding of how powerful her voice is given it’s layers of vocals that fire up the track ‘Vacationland,’ setting the scene for a dream-like and trippy ballad. The song is one that feels vulnerable but is also dripping in glamour, which is the whole aesthetic of Ava Vegas and her newest album ‘Desert Songs’.

Described by Rolling Stone as, “Berlin’s answer to Lana Del Rey,” Ava Vegas has a way to truly mesmerise and captivate her audiences with her gorgeous blend of dreamy and emotive music amongst a melancholic electronic backdrop. The new album is a romantic, psychedelic landscape, with one of the stand out songs being ‘Vacationaland’.

The track is moody and low, yet filled with energy. It sounds almost bond-like in its delivery, a real reflection of how different feelings can be achieved through the same sound. Ava Vegas is cementing herself as an exciting songwriter who can achieve a great deal in what she produces, both sonically and vocally.

“Whenever I write a new song, I first see the world it’s taking place in,” she said, “suddenly I am in a room or a landscape; I feel the light and temperature on my skin, I take in all the sensations and smells of the place, and I know what relationship, feeling, or situation in my life this place stands for and how to rebuild it in lyrics and melodies. That’s how I craft a song.”
