Coming hot off the back of their first headline UK tour - and just in time for a raucous weekend playing festivals in Derbyshire, Bristol and Nottingham - alt-rock duo Fräulein share ‘Big Cool’, the third and final single from upcoming sophomore EP, Pedestal

For those in the know, Fräulein have been one of the names to know on the London live circuit for some time now. Having built up a word-of-mouth reputation for their 90s-inflected grunge and dynamic live shows, they’re backing it all up with a studio sound to match.

‘Big Cool’ is a riotous, stomping battle cry, full of The Breeders-esque riffs befitting the bigger venues that are no doubt in store. “It’s kind of a mantra”, singer and guitarist Joni Samuels says of the track. “Not meant to be taken seriously, but ironically when I play this song, I do feel really confident”. Unsurprising, really. There’s an element of teasing to it, taking drum lines to a knife edge before retreating to a low backbeat, steadily building anticipation for Samuels’ powerful vocal release.

Judging from what we’ve heard so far, Pedestal is shaping up to be an assured step forward for Fräulein; it promises the energy and vitality of their debut EP, but injected with greater conviction - in their playing, in their sound, and in themselves.

Pedestal is out 30th June via Submarine Cat Records.
