More about:

Don’t go into the new single by Tom Ashbrook ‘Dusk’ in the same way you would a regular song. This isn’t a regular song. This song defies time. It’s not a journey, rather, it’s one moment of a journey, dug into and expanded, allowing you to discover deeper layers in a single moment with each passing beat.

Ashbrook is steadily proving himself to be one of the best neo-classical artists in the country, using a blend of synth, strings and natural sounds to create a landscape that listeners can get lost and look around in. It’s no surprise he has such an advanced knowledge of music and how to bend it to unveil different layers as he has been exploring sound ever since the age of 5. From there on in, his ability has just gone from strength to strength.

Dusk is the beginning of a much bigger project which is yet to be released. The journey that Tom takes the listener on throughout this track will be expanded upon even more in the brand new album ‘Nocturnes.’

“’Nocturnes’ is a collection of character pieces inspired by the falling of night, the ‘Blue Hour.’” Said Tom, “I wrote initial ideas of this concept all starting around 30 mins before sunset and 30 minutes before sunrise. With the sombre Juno chords and field texture recorded around 1750pm, ‘Dusk’, is the opening track of the album introducing the time, setting and colour palette of the album.”

Tom is an exciting artist and it will be interesting to see where his career progresses from here, not to mention, how he is going to be able to compile his work in order to produce a longer piece. His future projects are certainly something that you should keep an eye out for.
