More about: The Coral
After been a band for nearly 30 years, The Coral could release any old rubbish and there would be a fan base there ready to listen to it. They could go on tours with the promise of playing classics and sell out venues in a moment’s notice. With that in mind, the conceptual route they are going down with their music at the moment doesn’t only sound great, but is a commendable move to make.

The band are clearly embracing their freedom when it comes to their upcoming two albums, one of which is Sea Of Mirrors, which Oceans Apart will feature on. The song is a stripped back and calm track, one that feels smooth and easy to get on board with but that progresses in a way where it doesn’t feel stale.
One of the highlights has to be the walk-on feature and voiceover of actor Cillian Murphy. In any other song it would sound like a bit much but because of the setting that The Coral are going for with this new sound, it fits really well and adds to the song in a great way.
James Skelly of the band commented on this voice over, “once everybody had put their parts on the track,” he said, “Sean suggested we have some dialogue over the outro and said he’d done the soundtrack to Cillian Murphy’s first film, so he had a contact. A few weeks later I got an email from Cillian saying he was a fan and would be up for helping us.”
As far as songs from The Coral go, this one is a blinder.
