US rockers The Gaslight Anthem have premiered their new single '45', the first to be released from their upcoming album, 'Handwritten'.

Returning to the heavier sound of the band's early work, '45' is slice of classic-sounding US drivetime rock, with elements of Foo Fighters in their epic, radio-friendly rock sound.

"This song felt to us like we still had something to say in this long line of rock & roll tradition," says band frontman Brian Fallon. "It made the path clear as to what we should do next. Sometimes you just have to leave things behind . . . turn the record over."

'45' is due for release on 8 May, 2012 with new album 'Handwritten set to follow later this summer.
