Justin Timberlake and duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are currently leading the way in the shortlist for this year's MTV VMA Awards, with six nominations each.
'Mirrors' by Timberlake is set to compete with the rapper duos 'Thrift Shop to claim the VMA top spot for 2013.
With the striking 'Mirrors' video earning nominations for Video of the Year, Best Male Video and Best Pop Video and Best Editing. Macklemore & Lewis are hoping to bag their first award with their massive hit, 'Thrift Shop' that's up for Video of the Year. While their follow up single 'Can't Hold Us' receives Best Hip Hop Video, Best Cinematography, Best Direction and Best Editing. Equality anthem, 'Same Love' earned them their sixth nomination with Best Video with a Social Message.
Robin Thicke feat. T.I. and Pharrell's twice reaching chart-topper 'Blurred Lines', Bruno Mars 'Locked Out of Heaven' and Taylor Swifts 'I Knew You Were Trouble' are also up for Video of the Year, the MTV show's biggest honour.
Drake's 'Started From The Bottom' and A$AP Rocky feat. Drake, 2 Chainz and Kenrick Lamar 'F-kin' Problems' are also up for Best Hip Hop Video. While Best Female Video lists high contenders with Rihanna feat. Mikky Ekko's 'Stay' and Pink feat. Nate Ruess, 'Just Give Me A Reason'.

Iggy Azalea's 'Work' and The Weeknd's 'Wicked Games' are up for Artist To Watch, whilst Vampire Weekend with “Diane Young” contends for Best Rock Video.
The VMA's are to take place on 25 August at Barclays Centre in Brooklyn, New York.
