Dolly Parton's heavily-attended Glastonbury performance has inspired Jake Bugg to travel to the U.S. and make a country album.
He travelled to The U.S. to make his sophpomore LP, Shangri-La, and employed legendary producer Rick Rubin to sit at the controls. He displayed effective use of slight country twangs in his voice on ‘Pine Trees’ and ‘Storm Passes Away’ which were standout tracks on the album, thanks to writing sessions in Nashville.
Currently, he seems intent on developing this side of his songwriting - a descision he says is indebted to seeing Dolly Parton live at Glastonbury.
Bugg who was at T In The Park chatting to The Daily Star said: ''I'm a fan of Dolly's beautiful voice and great songs. She's a woman with great stories, so Dolly is pretty cool."
He added:''I've recently been coming up with new ideas for songs and have come up with country ideas.
''Next year I'd like to have some time off to travel around the southern states, Nashville and Memphis, and hang out, get inspired, see what happens.Maybe I'll make a country album, which would be pretty sweet.''
Meanwhile Jake Bugg will embark on a full UK tour in OCtober. See Gigwise tickets for details.
