Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has publically critised the ever-popular phenominum that is the TV talent show, claiming it to be, 'not what music's about'.
Suggesting the talent shows - namely The X Factor, The Voice and American Idol - have had a negative impact on the music industry, Grohl expressed the notion that being a successful musician isn't all about having a single, marketable trait.
Making the comments at a recent TV Critics Association event, the acclaimed guitarist and ex-Nirvana drummer, said: "I don't want my kid to think that the only way you can be a musician is to stand in line at a song contest audition, and then wind up having a bazillionaire tell you you're not a good singer.
"Don't get me started. To me, that's not what music's about."
Foo Fighters' currently nameless new album, which will accompany an 8-part television documentary series entitled Sonic Highways, will be released later on this year.
