Smith's legend and solo icon Morrissey is closing in on Ed Sheeran for the top spot of the Official Albums Chart, with new entry World Peace Is None Of Your Business.
Sheeran, who is currently in pole position with his new studio album X, is, according to the Official Charts Company's sales data, only 6,000 copies ahead of the Mancunian singer at this midway stage.
Morrissey's critically acclaimed album, World Peace Is None Of Your Business, was released on July 15 and is the artist's 10th solo album.
Political as ever, Morrissey has included a number of spoken videos as introductory pieces to songs; 'World Peace Is None Of Your Business', 'Istanbul', 'Earth Is The Loneliest Planet' and 'The Bullfighter Dies'.
