More about: Avril Lavigne
Avril Lavigne has reportedly filed a lawsuit against live concert streaming website 2VLive, claiming she's owed $293375,000 for a gig.
According to TMZ, Lavigne was supposed to be paid $500,000 in three installments, $125K, $300K and $75K. However, the singer claims to have only received the first payment for the show that happened ten months ago.
Lavigne signed a contract with the company a year ago where she also agreed to make promotional appearances. She's stated that she's also owed money from an affiliate of 2KLive who make video greeting cards.
The singer has been recently criticised for charging Brazilian fans the equivalent of £250 for meet and greet pictures where they had to stand an arms length away from her.
Facing more criticism, Lavigne's Japanese themed music video for single 'Hello Kitty' that was co-written with husband, Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger faced worldwide negativity for allegedly being racist. The video was subsequently removed.
In regards to the negativity that the faced faced, Lavigne said "RACIST??? LOLOLOL!!! I love Japanese culture and I spend half of my time in Japan. I flew to Tokyo to shoot this video specifically for my Japanese fans, WITH my Japanese label, Japanese choreographers AND a Japanese director IN Japan."
Avril Lavigne tours Japan in August 2014, the first time since the release of the 'Hello Kitty' music video.
