Tame Impala have been accused of plagiarising 'We Only Go Backwards', stealing the melody of the track from an 80s Argentinan pop track.

Chilean news site rata.cl claims that the psychadelic single that landed the band in the big time, was ripped off from a track called 'Océano' by Argentinian pop star Pablo Ruiz.

Now while they do sound remarkably similar, it's important to note that there are only so many chord progressions that are possible, meaning eventually one or two might sounds strikingly similar. We'd also struggle to imagine that Tame Impala were ever big into cheesey 80s pop from Argentina, but we could be wrong.

Listen to a comparison between the two songs below

Nice try guys.
