After much build-up and anticipation, Lorde has revealed her first new song since the release of Pure Heroine, 'Yellow Flicker Beat'. Listen to it below.
The track was written for the soundtrack to The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1, which the singer is also curating.
It begins in characteristically minimal fashion, with Lorde's husky, mellow vocals taking centre stage, before it bursts into an electronica-laden chorus. Lorde herself describes it as her "attempt at getting inside Katniss' head."

The singer also posted a short note on her Tumblr page, which reflected on the one-year anniversary of Pure Heroine's US release. She writes, "The past year of my life has seen everything around me multiply in size and number - the stamps on my passport, the number of people I have to ask before I ride on the ferris wheel after my set at a festival, the decibels that follow me when i walk around in public."
She continues: "The other thing that’s grown is me - my fitness, my mental stamina, my ability to think clearly and make decisions - but most of all, my capacity for love. The thousands upon thousands (wait, millions(?!!)) of you who bought pure heroine truly feel like friends to me."
The latest installment in the Hunger Games franchise is set for release on 20 November in the UK, and the soundtrack's release will coincide with this.
