Mark Ronson's 'Uptown Funk' has achieved its seventh week at No.1, beating a strong challenge from Hozier.
Seemingly inescapable, despite being first uploaded onto Youtube in 19 November, Ronson and Bruno Mars dancefloor filler has crushed all before it.
"It’s such an incredible thing to be No.1 even for one week," Ronson told Official Charts Company. "It’s my first No.1 of any single I’ve ever had, so to be No.1 for seven weeks is something that just blows my mind, it’s amazing. It’s cool because it means that you guys all like what we like, which is good funk music and dance music played by musicians. It’s insane, so thank you."
One of the other big talking points is that despite being initially released in 24 February 2014, it was a strong week for Hozier’s 'Take Me To Church' as it climbed to No.2 in the UK charts. Hozier, who played Shepherd's Bush Empire this weekend, looks set to remain in the charts until festival season rolls around.
In the album charts Meghan Trainor's debut album Title beat Ed Sheeran’s x into second place with Ronson, Sam Smith and George Ezra making up the rest of the top five. The Charlatans Modern Nature came in at No.7 while Gaz Coombes entered at No.18 with his remarkable LP Matador.
