In an unexpected outing of good humour, Chad Kroeger has responded to a kickstarter campaign which aims to raise enough money to ban Nickelback from performing in London.
Craig Mandell is hoping to raise ($1000) £626 to ban the divisive band from playing in the city, calling the project 'Don't let Nickel-back'.
According to the Kickstarter page, which has currently received $282 of funding, Mandell plans on adding backers' names to a strongly worded email to be sent to the band's management, with the severity of the message dependent on how many people fund the project.
The campaign's description reads: "We are attempting to ensure that Canadian 'rockers'Nickelback do not come to London, England to play a gig. With your help, we can ensure that the band do not schedule any gigs here, do not attempt to come here - nor even phone here."
Now, speaking to The Pulse Of Radio, as reported by Metal Hammer, the band's frontman Chad Kroeger has said: "I love it. More controversy that surrounds either myself, my personal life, the band, whatever - I think it's hilarious."
He added: "All these critics, they're just tireless. They keep ragging on the band. If they had stopped writing all this stuff about us, there would be no controversy left in the band and we probably would have died out years ago. They don't know that they're still responsible for us being around today."
The 'Don't Let Nickel-back' campaign ends on 3 November.
