The death of Jack White's keyboardist Ikey Owens has been revealed, after he died suddenly while on tour in Mexico earlier this week.
The Grammy Award-winning musician, also famed for playing with the likes of The Mars Volta and Free Moral Agents, was found dead in his hotel room on 14 October while on tour with White's band. White has since cancelled all Mexican shows 'out of respect.
Now, White has issued a statement detailing Owens' cause of death:
"The coroner has determined that Ikey Owens died from a heart attack the morning of October 14th at approximately 4 am. The only drugs found in his room were a small amount of marijuana.
"Ikey, born Isaiah Randolph Owens was a GRAMMY award winning artist best known for his work with Jack White, the Mars Volta, De Facto and Free Moral Agents, among others. He was a beloved member of the music community as well as his hometown of Long Beach, CA."
Following his death, White paid tribute to Owens, saying "he will be missed and loved forever by his family, friends, bandmates and fans...We will all miss you Ikey. You were and are an incredible artist."
