John Lydon has urged the public to vote, telling them not to follow in the footsteps of "bumhole" Russell Brand.
The Sex Pistols frontman, who is currently promoting his biography Anger Is An Energy, hit out at Brand and politicians at The Cheltenham Literature Festival. He also added that we should give the politicians a run for their money by getting out and casting our ballots at the elections.
"If you don’t vote, you don’t count. It’s only a century ago that none of us had the right to vote and we don’t want to go back to that route," said Lydon. "I’m very wary of tagging my name on to supporting any of those phoney bastards, but don’t be like Russell Brand."

‘Go to town hall meetings and give them f***ing hell,’ he added. ‘I’m not being flippant. If you don’t start locally you’re not going to change the world.’
The comments come after Russell Brand urged the public not to cast votes in the upcoming election, due to an increasing disenfranchisement of the under 30's.
