Hugely influential dance duo Orbital have parted ways (again), Paul Hartnoll however has announced a solo album under the name 8:58.
Having spent 25 years together, the Hartnoll brothers Phil and Paul have decided to call it a day. "Orbital had stopped working properly. We had a great four years since getting back together in 2008, but it was time to move on", said Paul of the split.
Meanwhile, under new moniker 8:58, he has already recorded his solo album and today is debuting the title track, which is available for free download. It's a strong start, with a technical and cinematic track that features an opening monlogue from Cillian Murphy.

“I’ve always been interested in time,” says Paul Hartnoll, discussing the meaning behind the song. “I’ve always had a thing for clocks, and for time as a powerful force — but also the way time oppresses you. It’s one of those things I keep coming back to.”
Hartnoll will be embarking on a six date tour of the UK in February, the tour dates can be found below.
