Foo Fighters have turned down the chance to play at next year's Isle Of Wight Festival, according to organiser John Giddings.

The band, who are confirmed to headline Germany's Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park with Slipknot from 5-7 July, look set to be touring the European festival circuit next summer - with Isle Of Wight previously among to rumoured possibilities.

However, now IoW boss John Giddings has put the rumours to bed, tweeting in response to a fan that the band declined the chance:

This week, Giddings said that Ed Sheeran was unsuitable and 'boring' headliner, saying: "We're not building headliners anymore. Nobody can invest in building a band over five albums. And if boring acts like Ed Sheeran are the future then we're all screwed."

Meanwhile, Foo Fighters (who release new album Sonic Highways on 10 November) are also rumoured to be headlining either Glastonbury or Reading and Leeds next summer.
