Fresh from his success at the Q Awards earlier that day, Sam Smith took home four MOBO awards last night at the ceremony at Wembley.
Smith said on the night: “This is truly a dream come true. It feels amazing. I hardly ever win awards and I never got awards in school for anything so it is really surreal for me to have five in one day. I don’t know where I’ll put them all. I need a cabinet. Well actually I need a house big enough for a cabinet.”
One suspects that if his album remains in the top five for much longer, this shouldn't be a problem.
When asked about the followup to In The Lonely Hour the Guardian reports he said simply “I can always find a reason to be sad in life. I think honest songs make the best songs, and whether they are sad or happy, they have just got to be relatable.”

Other than Smith's triumph, Gigwise's own personal highlight of the night came from a very different artist. There was something absolutely wonderful about watching Skepta take to the stage to collect his award for That's Not Me, announcing he didn't have a ticket for the awards and then declare that his winning video only cost £80.
